LingoContext ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our Chrome Extension collects, uses, and safeguards your information.

a. User-Provided Content

When you select text on a webpage and activate the extension, we collect that specific text selection together with limited surrounding context and the page title to provide context-aware translation and grammatical analysis.

b. Authentication Data

If you choose to log in, we authenticate you via Google OAuth. We store your basic profile information (email address and name) to create your account and sync your saved vocabulary.

c. Usage Data

When you explicitly save a word or phrase to your dashboard, we store:

• The text you selected
• The generated definition/analysis
• The limited saved context and URL of the page where you found the text

2. How We Use Your Information

• To Provide Service: Selected text, limited surrounding context, and page title are sent to our backend and the configured AI provider solely to generate linguistic analysis.
• To Personalize Experience: We use your preferences to tailor the target language and audio settings.
• To Sync Data: Your saved vocabulary is stored in our database so you can access it across devices.

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share specific data points with the following third-party service providers only as necessary to function:

• Google Gemini API or DeepSeek: To generate definitions and grammar explanations, depending on the AI provider configured for your account.
• Google Authentication: For secure login.

4. Data Retention

We retain your saved vocabulary and user profile until you delete your account or request deletion of your data. Analysis requests are used to return the requested result and are not sold.

5. Limited Use

We use Chrome extension data only to provide and improve the single purpose of LingoContext: language-learning analysis, pronunciation, and vocabulary review. We do not sell personal information, use it for unrelated advertising, or transfer it except as needed to provide the requested service.
